Do You Think Russia Overestimated Russia's Capacity?

I'll be the first to admit that there's a level of competency being displayed that that's a little shocking too. Do you think because they were pretty effective in Syria and when they weren't, I mean, Russia hadn't really operated beyond its borders like that. Wasn't supposed to be able to either for that matter. And then maybe that led to people overestimating their capabilities.
