Alastair's Adversaria

CHAPTER

The Song of the Vineyard

Jesus speaks of the 18 people who died in the collapse of the tower of soloum. The warning that they will all likewise perish, is probably looking forward to the events of literal judgment that will come upon jerusalem in 18 70. Elsewhere in the gospels, the fig tree serves more explicitly as a symbol for the nation of israel. Jesus here seems to be the patient keeper of the vineyard, seeking to delay judgment upon the nation and its temple.
