The liver is the major storage site for unused glucose. Muscle, while it also stores glucose to a high degree, won't share it with any other tissue. All of these micronutrients go to the liver first for processing. The body takes glucose as though it's a used car. It's stripping it for parts and using those parts elsewhere in a more useful manner.
