The Otherworldly Sound of the Cello

The cello becomes merely a vehicle for the thing that he's trying to express. There's such a vocality when he's there on the melody. To me, it doesn't sound like a forced imitation of the human voice. And then when you underpin that with four more cellos, it's not coral. It's like a new choir and you kind of sound that really breathes.
