i'm also wondering how you were feeling in this really loving family system, where it was very clear that there were sacrifices being made so that you could be a part of this education. Did that put undue pressure on you, or how do you feel like that informed your identity as it was growing and evolving? That's a great question. I definitely experience an incredible amount of, i'll say, cultural dissonance. Now that i'm older, i don't know that that experience was incredibly rare. There are so many african american, black and brown peoplei in our country who grow up dealing with that sort of cultural dissodance. And the gift of being on the margins
