The Importance of Prize Money in TV
The old US seasons from like 2001 2002 I can't remember the exact year with Anderson Cooper. A US TV audience would never accept that amount of low prize money right just for like a bunch of subtle cultural reasons. So when they're playing that season they're playing for like half a million dollars by the end or whatever so that we're talking about an order and magnitude more money. There's a really interesting case in one of the early American seasons where after the fact the mole wrote a book about their experience in their book they admit to purposely failing to sabotage a mission partly because they wanted whoever the two finalists is going to win to get a bunch of money. And so that's interesting too
