Is There a Zero-Sum Game?

There are going to be people who might well resent the fact that gay culture has made Hackney a more desirable place to be and therefore rents have increased. I don't think it's unreasonable to feel a little bit resentful towards people who have culturally gentrified an area. We could have policies whereby everyone can afford to live in Hackney who wants to living in Hackney. That seems like a very limited framework to confine yourself to, but we have a system whereby there is a zero-sum game. It's depressing politics to say any kind of cultural vibrancy is a bad thing, increases rent.
