Jonathan Edwards wrote a treatise on the nature and signs of God's spirit. His aim was to show the distinguished marks of a work of the spirit of God, including both its common and saving operations. He said: "God's people in general have their minds unhinged and unsettled" It is hoped that his writings will tend to promote the interest of religion.
