The Specificity Trap - Strength Training for Runners

If we know that an improvement in maxim or force producing capability, provides us with an improvement in performance, then it's those physical qualities that we need to be training in a non specific setting. One is endurance performers, or runners, they need muscular endurance and not muscular strength. We need to try and set runners up with exercises, repetition ranges, which really overload specific physiological adaptationswhich allow us to get changes in those physical qualities.
