cosmologists have stated it could be possible that time is infinite in both directions, past and future. Some theologians try to discredit this consideration by saying if there's an infinite amount of time in the past, you would never get to today. To me, this reasoning sounds a bit flawed; I'm having a little trouble articulating underlying issues. Matt from Sweden: It seems to me like there have been few major theoretical breakthroughs within physics during the last decades compared to the early 20th century. If so, could this be attributed to the low hanging fruits have already been picked? Or simply that we don't have another 21st century Einstein or Mox Plonk?
Welcome to the October 2022 Ask Me Anything episode of Mindscape! These monthly excursions are funded by Patreon supporters (who are also the ones asking the questions). We take questions asked by Patreons, whittle them down to a more manageable number — based primarily on whether I have anything interesting to say about them, not whether the questions themselves are good — and sometimes group them together if they are about a similar topic. Enjoy!
