The History of Bitcoin

Hash rate is a measure of how difficult it is to mine a Bitcoin block. In the early days, there was no price; so you had this flat line and one difficulty. A year after Satoshi's release, all of a sudden, Bitcoin got priced at $1 for $1,300. And then immediately after, within a month, difficulty goes up. So even in that very first instance, price led difficulty, which, in effect, means price led hash rate.
