The Unchoosing Disability of Humans
The prohibition of incest is an example of a strategy that works to ensure the unchosing of disabledness. The power of the incest taboo suggests that choosing and unchosing are not even options. Choosing disabledness results in reactions of disgust, shock,. horror and disbelief at a who's of hatred and practices of stigma, marginalization and violence. We cannot select which examples of choosing and unchose dis slash abledness we should fight for. Rather, we must fight against the creation of monocultures of abledness across all guises.
