Getting a Good Sounding Source
I was just recording an amazing bass player here, like playing an upright. I could have recorded this guy with any old shit. You know what I mean? So it starts with good playing, good technique and even playing and everything. And a good sounding source helps, obviously. Back in the early days, before we had all this gear, I think that the part of my approach was trying to disguise things in a way. Where now it's more that I've got a really good sounding source because I'veGot a nice sounding amps and nice instruments. The differences between different mics are not night and day are they? They're kind of using a ribbon mic or a condenser mic
