The Tensions in the Letter to Paul
Paul is trying to work out in this letter, how is it that we can say that Jesus is the culmination of God's faithfulness to Israel, despite the fact that Jewish people by and large aren't flocking to this message. So answering those questions about what do we say about God? Can God be faithful if Israel doesn't believe? I think he's wrestling with those questions in the light of some very tangible on-the-ground concerns.
