The first and primary goal of apprenticeship to jesus is learning to live in a constant state of awareness of and connection to the holy spirit. In this one little, se famous teaching, he uses that greek word meno, or abide, or remain, ten times in one tinky little teaching. No branch can bear fruit by itself. It must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers. Such branch are picked up and thrown into the fire and burned. This is to my father's glory that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves
