After the fall of Bhutafika, a new regime came in. But that having been done, the new regime began to look very much like the old regime. People are still on the whole pretty depressed, because nothing really seems to have changed. And my reckoning is that if the price of oil and gas collapsed, and dissent and dis-cranselment could get very much worse, and the regime could find itself wobbling all over again.

Democrats will have a bit more breathing room in the Senate, with an outright majority provided by Reverend Raphael Warnock’s win. We ask what the state-level victory reveals about national politics.
