The Song of Songs
The chosen medium of the song is the veil of language. Veils simultaneously allow us to draw near, but also maintain separation and difference. The circumlocutory character of erotic writing directs our mind around the sexual act in a way that excites wonder. For the lovers and the song, the world is charged and transfigured by their love and desire for each other. In first chronicles, chapter 21, the lily which appears several times within the song, evokes all f the garden imagery of the song.
