How Do You Research Disruptive Bystanders?

Ye: It turns out to be quite a complicated thing to unpack what these kinds disruptive bystanders are doing. They have their own egendas, which can't be simply reduced to one explanation exactly. So in my dissertation, i emphasize the fact that non politicized motivations for the bystander actions yest rit so most of these actions are either dear toward rescuing people whom they consider to be innocent victims of excessive violence or toward defending their communities and their families against potential violence and destruction from strangers. But at the same time, while these are non politicized acts, they do have politically meaningful implications toward the dynamics and the durability of protest me.
