Introduction
Gary Young is a British author, broadcaster and former editor at large for the Guardian newspaper. He was born in 1969 in Hertfordshire to Barbadian parents and grew up in Stephenage. Gary has written about the African Diaspora and issues of race and racism across Europe as well as Britain and the United States. We talked about his formative political experiences when he was 15 year old caught between the wrath of revolutionary workers and his mum. And in the course of talking about Gary's excellent book about identity politics, who should it matter in the 21st century?
