California and the Great Depression
Post World War to period created conditions in which there was enough surplus to circulate through households and individuals. The University of California built multiple campuses, the California State University system expanded. But large banks and corporations that had willingly submitted themselves to high levels of taxation were no longer willing to continue to carry that fiscal burden.
