In Our Time

CHAPTER

The Origins of the Universe

Pulsars are interesting because they represent the end state of the evolution of a certain kind of star. The first exoplanet that was claimed was in 1988 and it was a planet orbiting a pulsar. If the pulsar has a planet around it then the planet will tug on it just in the same way as the pulsar. So there's only two pulsars that are confirmed to have a planet but one of them was actually the first exoplanets to be found, it was in 1992 by Vauchann and Fraill.
