Why Do Sheep Eat Grass?

The energy value of grass is really low, first and foremost. A sheep has to eat a lot of grass to get the same amount of energy as you would get from, say, one burger. So when we say a cow or a sheep eats grass, that's not strictly true because what it's really eating is a soup of bacteria who have fed on the grass.
