Why Did the Landowners Lose Their Source of Income?

These were, for the most part, 99% of them, I suppose would have been in the country. You can see that today in places like Kensington and so forth and Mayfair. And were these all in the country or were some of them like in a city kind of setting? Actually, that's where a lot of these landowners retreated to when they sold their properties eventually. A lot of them got demolished.
