The Corinthian's First Letter to the Bishop of Rome
I don't see any trace of a monarchical episcopate anywhere in the first century, let alone Rome. In 97 when Clement responds to the controversy in Corinth, there's two things to notice. Number one, the apostle John is still alive and Corinth is much closer to where John is an exile than they are to Rome. And yet they write to the Bishop of Rome and Clement responds and answers and settles an internal dispute within the church. That looks for all the world like the Catholic claim in 97.
