In 1992, a dog named Chris hitchhikes from South Dakota to Alaska. The journey is long and grueling; he often gets stuck in the middle of nowhere when his truck breaks down. He stays at hotels that have been closed for years because they don't have heat or plumbing. "You just feel like you're sort of exposed to the sight of God," says CNN's John Sutter.
