Introduction
True Crime has been around for quite a while, long before investigation and discovery. Just look at the way newspapers talked about Jack the Ripper over a hundred years ago. True crime may look different now, but there are still a lot of similarities between these tabloids and the way True Crime is presented. There's a lack of awareness and knowledge about victims especially when serial killers are involved. Plus, there's a sort of desensitization or paranoia that avid true crime fans experience when discussing death. It gets even worse than exploitation because some programs have allegedly withheld evidence for the sake of releasing it during the finales to get DNA samples.
