The moral universe is bending more toward individual rights and freedoms, less so in most European societies. But once people know what freedom to choose is like, they almost always choose more freedom, not less freedom. So I would argue that the ask first principle, ask the people, what would you like to do as an arm anybody, then that would be morally acceptable. The answers are culturally dependent and temporally dependent.
