The Fed's Lack of Sensitivity to Inflation Is Striking

Interest margin is going to get squeezed this year. It means that the period of very benevolent credit that we saw over the last five years, particularly during COVID, has ended. The normal loss rate on a used car loan is like 80%. So all of this is now reverted back to normal and banks have to reprice their business to essentially compete with the US Treasury. That's not a reasonable ask on the part of the Fed. How many more bank failures do you think Jay Powell can survive? I give him one or two. And then he and Yell are going to step down. If we were in the UK, both of these people would be gone already.
