The Incitement Against Hypatia
The mob's gleeful execution of hypatia still moves me deeply, even though it took place more than 15 hundred years ago. Imagine what must have gone through hypatia's head as she was being dragged to her death. And what went through the heads of those doing the dragging and cutting? Did they truly believe they were serving a higher purpose? We may actually come close to getting an idea of how hypateus death unfolded. For despite the passing of 15 hundred years, human nature can still give in to the impulses that cut short hypagia's life.
