How do you know what kind of insubordinate rebel you want on your team? Because when I was reading your book, I was thinking of the survivorship bias. How do you know that the particular story you're presenting? Like you open with Charles Darwin. OK, well, he turned out to be right. So good story,. But of course, there's all the other people that came before him or were his contemporaries who also attempted to construct theories of evolution who failed. And so, you know, we don't hear about them, right? They didn't.

For too long, the term insubordination has evoked negative feelings and mental images. But for ideas to evolve and societies to progress, it’s vital to cultivate rebels who are committed to challenging conventional wisdom and improving on it. Change never comes easily. And most would-be rebels lack the skills to overcome hostile audiences who cling desperately to the way things are.
