Judith Butler‘s ”What is Critique?”
Theory & Philosophy
00:00
Foucault's Desejectification of the Church
Foucault says that in the act of being governed, one is opened up to a certain possibility of self-realization. Critique might not be effective at actually performing this operation to its full extent, but it will nevertheless point to those limits. Now Butler translate, or using this quote from the politics of truth, seems to contradict her whole thing so far. But she doesn't catch on that, I don't know how she reconciles this contradiction. If anyone knows if anyone has actually written on this, this issue that Butler has with reading this text in Foucault's work, send me an email and we'll talk about it.
