Bill Ackman: When to Sell a Stock - Netflix Example (NFLX)

The Art of Value

CHAPTER

The Importance of Making Mistakes

Bill Agman's advice to a retail investor would be if you bought Tesla because you love the cars and thought it was going to grow at some kind of basis. But then someone else or BMW comes out with a car that's much better than Tesla and you expect all of a sudden Tesla not to have some monopolistic share of the business, you know you should sell. He said it didn't take much courage to sell Netflix in the end because it was the economically rational thing to do. So on making mistakes: Monish Pabrai has said through John Sir John Templeton that the very best investors make are going to be wrong about half the time.
