The Witches Dance and the Diis Ire
There's a real sense of dread now, but it's mingled with exhilaration and that sense of bloodthirsty glee. And we finally get the witchs dance combined with the diis ire. It's as if the witches have taken over the church. The graveyard is full of monsters trampling on graves, and the leader of this strous group is sadistically tolling the dias ire in the bell tower. One part of the orchestra plays in two beats to the bar, and one part plays in three beats to thebar. So you get this. But he's berlios, and he can't resist.
