The Story of Saint Rosalia

The patron saint of palermo is rosalia. She was born into a wealthy, rich family in sicily but renounced pleasure and money to instead live a spiritual life when she was 12 years old. A famous painting by anthony van dyke shows her with two angels leading her up to a cave where she lived as a hermit for the rest of her life. The ghost of rosalia then started appearing to warn people that a plague was coming.
