I think it's not a unique situation to emoji. I mean, even if you go back just a few years, the use of punctuation could be seen as unprofessional or too many exclamation points. And this is, again, another form of policing language and telling people, like, no, there are rules and conventions to subscribe to. But because they provide some sort of utility, it's hard to argue not using them because they are helpful.
