Is There a New Liberalism in the Global Economy?
New liberalism has become such a broad label that it is not useful any more. Under new liberal capitalism, the delegates more of the job to social coordination to the market. So we are in a novel situation when states actively help specific economic actors by enhancing their advantage in the global economy for the sake of insuring national competitiveness. In this situation, the privileged position of select corporations intensifies the competitive pressures on all the rest. The trouble is not only for the under class of workers on insecure and poorly paid jobs but also highly educated professionals as well.
