The first contact that QuickUp had with Elixir was our real-time server, which still exists today. We refer to it as the beating heart of QuickUp. And we didn't really like the way that it worked and startedReading about Elixir, Erlang, WhatsApp, we're using it at the time. This whole 2 million concurrent connections on a single server was like, oh, wow, this is some technology that can scale. Also I was a Rubyist. So there was this natural progression from Ruby to Elixir for people that were pissed off with Ruby,. All that was like, this is amazing. Immutable data just felt really great.
