Speaking of Jung: Interviews with Jungian Analysts

CHAPTER

Typology and the Shadow

Darrell Yung's model of typology is based on preferential or habitual ways of functioning, used responsibly. It's a valuable guide to our dominant psychological disposition and reveals the way we mostly aren't but could also be. The shadow represents aspects of onesself that have been buried or that might yet be realized. We regularly cover up our inferiorities with a persona, since we don't like our weaknesses to be seen. For lack of company civilized society, life as we know it depends on interactions between people through the persona.
