The Power of the Server - It's Okay for Heroes to Happen Every Now and Again
I think it's okay for heroic efforts to happen every now and again. When you're specking out a server for a service, you build burst capacity into that estimate. There is some amount of spike capacity that that server is going to be able to absorb. It's funny to me that we're so good at natively managing servers that way, but we so struggle with giving ourselves the same grace that we give a hardware.
