The Complexity of Light and Matter

Light bouncing off of matter or passing through matter is really a very complicated phenomenon. There's also some misunderstanding about the idea that light goes through things if there are spaces for it to wiggle its way through. By transparent, we really just mean that you can see through it. It means if you shine a light from one side, the light comes out the other side with basically no scattering.
