The Peacock Revolution
Starting in the 1960s, a deluge of styles kicked the men's and women's fashion industry into hyperdrive. But by the 1970s, it was clear that the peacock revolution just took it a step too far. In like the San Francisco scene, they were wearing like straw boater hats and fake Victorian outfits. And so Thomas Frank says, this created a new opportunity for people who wanted to sell an alternative away from frilled shirts and the Nehru collars.
