The Power of Elaboration
Pre-testing is quite effective. Another thing here is elaboration. Elaboration is basically when people try and explain something that they already know. It can be a really good way of getting people to understand things better. There's something known as the worked example effect in the literature. So it gets them to do this step by step thing where you're not overloading their working memory, but also creating this structure for them to start to understand. Next example, pretending they're stupid. This is something from my own personal experience. I want to give an example of someone from university who I liked.
