How to Choose the Right Translator for Your Book

My masters dissertation was about basically the business of translating Chinese sci-fi to English. And I took a wider look at just all Chinese in general going into English. So that's something that as a translator, you need to realize what you're doing. One of my favorite translators are Ken Liu and Jeremy Tian who both write their own fiction in English. They can make a beautiful sentence - they're not just trying to write something for accuracy. Another thing that's really big in Chinese to English translation is academic writers. A lot of them, because it's translating, being a literary translator pays really badly.
