Slavery in Saint Genevieve

Most communities in colonial north america practised some form of slavery. So do the french colonists of saint genevieve also practise slavery? And if they did, were they practising the african chattel slavery that we see in so much of colonial british north America? It's both. We definitely see slavery used here, to the point that throughout the colonial period, it's pretty standard that 30 to forty per cent of the people living here were slaved.
