Fyodor dostoyevsky died in 18 81, a s master of letters. He was still gambling and didn't have his act together but couldn't pretend that his problems were the fault of any one but himself. His flaws are banal, common and ugly, embarrassing. And so we come back to him through this most difficult year - he had been held into madness by his father's death.
