Are We Going to Turn Away From Polarization?

I think we can always hope for more from the electorate. But i think that placing too much responsibility on the electorate can be a mistake itself. The ability to aggregate those choices into a definite statement of, we're going to turn away from polarization requires a heroic level of belief in what the electori can do on its own. So you need, in some sense, to re work the institutions without producing different choices. That would involve asking nothing new on the part of the electorate, but would have very likely immediate consequences on dampening porization.
