I absolutely loved this New York Times piece about Lionel Messi, the Argentinian soccer players deal with Saudi Arabia. I thought it was just a great window into the lengths the Saudi government goes to to whitewash its reputation and using sports stars who are willing accomplices. So he gets two million for a minimum of one family vacation annually lasting five days or alternatively two annual vacations of three days each. Another two million for promoting Saudi Arabia on his social media accounts 10 times a year. And then he puts it on his Instagram about two million more to participate in an annual tourism campaign,. another two million for charitable work and appearances. Don't tell him you're Jewish.
