The History of Voltage-Controlled Oscillators

In 1964, Robert Moag created the voltage-controlled oscillator found inside the very first commercial synthesizer. Pressing different keys changes the voltage, driving the oscillator to produce different pitches. The purpose of an LFO is to create repeating motion like vibrato or tremolo.
