Scaling Theory and Evolutionary Biology - What Drew You to SFI?

In 2012, Michael and Stephanie Deitkois wrote a PNAS paper on growth metabolic partitioning in the size of microorganisms. They compared prokaryotic organisms with eukaryotic organisms to see how their architecture changed over time. Their research suggests that as cells get bigger, they lose some internal structure. This is contrary to what evolutionary theory would have predicted. The researchers are now trying to build detailed energetic theories of single cell organisms using this data.
