Didn't Turn Over the Documents?

CNN's John Sutter talks about the case of a man who was sued for defamation and emotional distress. The judge ordered him to turn over documents, but he didn't do it because he feared being held in contempt if he did. He also said that his lawyer hired an independent person to go through all my enals and find the ones that were relevant. But then they got two years of tex and of course, it's all over the place. So i want to know, what did the court or the judge do at that point?
